How Can I Join Stop Traffic?
It's easy! Look for us on the ORG website or email [email protected] to request to be on our listserv and find out our meeting schedule. We also participate in the organization fair that takes place at the beginning of each semester, so you can stop by our table for more information. You should also like our page on Facebook and follow us on Twitter, where we post links and updates!
When Are Meetings?
Starting Fall 2012, our meetings will be held the first and third Tuesdays of every month at 7 pm in Tate Hall, room 101. We will send out email and Facebook reminders the Monday before each meeting. (Our emails are sent from our Gmail account, so if you are using your Mizzou email, make sure that the emails don't get put in your junk mail folder!)
What Are Membership Requirements and Opportunities?
We don't have any requirements to be a member -- that's right, no fees or applications! You can attend meetings as they fit in your schedule. Got an exam to study for? No worries -- just come to the next meeting. We always have events, presentations and collaborations with other organizations to plan, so there are many leadership positions available and ways to be involved, both big and small. If you are interested in a leadership opportunity, be sure to talk to an executive at a meeting to discuss the role(s) you're interested in and requirements of executives. Elections are held at the end of April, during our last meeting of the year.
what we do
Stop Traffic plans a variety of events every year. Some of our past events include our biennial conference, film showings, fundraisers, fashion shows, and presentations to classes and groups. We are always open to collaborating with other student/community groups and businesses. We are constantly looking for new and creative ideas to fundraise, educate, and provide a strong social justice community in Columbia.
If you are interested in having a Stop Traffic representative come to your meeting or class for a Human Trafficking 101 presentation (usually 20-60 minutes, depending on your needs), please fill out the form below and specify in the Comment section.

Stop Traffic History
Stop Traffic was formed in 2007 by a group of students who noticed the lack of human trafficking groups in mid-Missouri and were struck by the magnitude of trafficking in the world. The founders were from a mix of different academic backgrounds, but all had a passion for Stop Traffic's mission. In the spring of 2008, they held a two-day conference at the University of Missouri with a variety of speakers, panels, and workshops. Some attendees of the conference were inspired by Stop Traffic's mission and they began the Central Missouri Stop Human Trafficking Coalition. The Coalition and Stop Traffic have since collaborated and provided support for the other's efforts.
